BuzzSugar "Paris Crisis" Episode Recap Oct 8, 2009 2:51 PM I'm late recapping this week's RZP because I lit-trally had no time to watch it, and then I lit-trally died the whole time. Seriously, Rachel's Rachel-isms haven't really made me want to tear my hair out (bananas and die are just kind of funny), but to hear her say "lit-trally" lit-trally as every other word while she's in Paris left me with some bald spots. It's not even a Rachel-ism, just a word used incorrectly, but please woman, get some new adjectives. Totally, really, definitely — those all mean what you're trying to say. Anyways, the actual episode was about Rachel and Brad's trip to Paris (PS if that one assistant is competent enough to go to Paris, wouldn't she have been competent enough to stay behind and work?) and the one "disaster" that sprang up while they were abroad. The disaster, was, of course, the ad that Taylor had to work on back in LA — because the client didn't like anything Brad had pulled. Hmph. Meanwhile, Brad and Rachel had a fabulous time, and Brad even called Taylor to rub her nose in her not being there. But they bought her a present! So I basically felt awful for Taylor the whole episode, especially because Brad and Rachel really didn't. What did you think?

BuzzSugar "Paris Dilemma" Episode Recap Sep 28, 2009 8:47 PM In this episode, "The One Where Rachel Shows She's the Worst Boss Ever" er, I mean "Paris Dilemma," Rachel first makes an organizational error after she speaks too soon to invite Brad and Taylor both to Paris, and then instead of just apologizing for her mistake and assigning someone to stay behind, she puts it to the two of them to decide. Well sort of — she expects Brad to just say he'll stay behind because he hasn't been on as long as Taylor. Then when he gets upset because Taylor makes the "test" clear, Rachel makes things even worse by not hearing Brad's legitimate claim out, and then she makes Taylor make the decision. And then: Twist! After all the mind tricks Rachel put Taylor and Brad through over Paris, it ended up being Brad that Taylor chose to go. This whole dilemma made me really angry and resentful for both Brad and Taylor. It wasn't just about Rachel not wanting to be the bad guy and tell someone they couldn't go to Paris, it was about her not admitting her mistake in booking the new jobs over the Paris trip and her other mistake of telling the pair they could both go too soon. By making them decide amongst themselves, she plays the two against each other — right when they start getting along really well. What is this, Survivor ?! I haven't seen a power play like that since Richard Hatch. Seriously though, as cool as any job seems, you should still be treated like a valuable employee, and Rachel needed to be able to woman up and just make a boss decision. No one wants to look like the bad guy, but she put made Brad and Taylor both look bad to each other, and ended up making herself look worse in the process. By not listening to Brad's grievance either, she makes him feel like his happiness at work doesn't matter. She's fostering an environment of resentment with "nonconfrontational" moves like this, and it's no wonder that Taylor has such a bad work attitude. Sadly, there's no happy ending; it was nice of Taylor to let Brad go in her place, but I feel like she pretty much had to. How could you feel good about going after that whole debacle? Apparently I got really fired up about the Paris dilemma, but there was other stuff going on too: the totally fake usage of Bing to look for plane tickets, Rachel's impossibly glamorous doctor, the weirdly retro Vertigo diagnosis, and oh yeah, a whole LOT of jewelry. P.S. Did I just hear a promo calling next week's episode the finale? Nooooo!
BuzzSugar "Meltdown" Episode Recap Sep 22, 2009 4:58 PM OK, is anyone freaked out by Rachel's mystery illness that necessitated a trip to the ER and a To Be Continued? Me neither? I'm not totally cold, I just feel like if it was something really crazy, we'd have read about it in the news by now. Anyway, it was interesting to see what could get the workaholic away from work. I was pretty touched by the interaction between Rachel and Taylor at the end of the episode, when Rachel tells Taylor that she'd give her children to Taylor if anything happened to her. She sounded a little delirious, but it was sweet nonetheless, especially since Tay reciprocated. It was a nice reassurance that despite Taylor's constant complaining, they seem to genuinely like each other at the core. As for the job at Ashton Kutcher's studio . . . well, I like Ashton but I was desperately bored during the Blahgirls sequence. I know it was supposed to be about showing Rachel on an averagely un-average job, but I wanted more Ashton, less animation. When she got back to styling the Glamour shoot, I was relieved to see her doing what she does best — putting clothes together and telling people what looks good and what doesn't. Though everyone seemed to be annoyed with her control-freakness, you have to give it to Rachel: lady knows what she's doing. Favorite moment of the episode: Brad taking Jasper to get groomed and then telling him how good he looked when it was over. Taylor was pissed, but does she not know how adorable Jasper is?! She must not, certainly. So what do you think Rachel's ailment is? My money's ion exhaustion, because it sounds like a good plot point. Photo courtesy of Bravo
Molly Hilarious Zoe Impression Sep 22, 2009 4:42 PM Spot on and I got it from Rachel Zoe's twitter! She says you can't take yourself too seriously. Couldn't agree more.
